Alpha
The excess return a trader generates over a benchmark or market average. It’s your performance above what the market would give you passively.
Backtesting
Using historical price data to simulate how a strategy would have performed — without risking live capital.
Drawdown
The amount your account drops from peak to trough during a losing streak. A key metric for understanding risk exposure.
Edge
Your unique, repeatable advantage in the market. A reliable reason to expect long-term profitability from your approach.
Execution
The way your trade is placed and managed — including entry speed, order types, slippage, and broker performance.
Liquidity
How easily an asset can be bought or sold without significantly impacting the price. High liquidity means tighter spreads and smoother fills.
Order Flow
Real-time data showing active buying and selling pressure in the market. Often used to anticipate short-term moves.
Position Sizing
The amount of capital you allocate to each trade. Crucial for risk management and long-term sustainability.
Risk-to-Reward Ratio (R:R)

Scaling
